Bandipora, July 14: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Bandipora and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.
Acting on specific information, a police Party led by incharge PP Ajas Insp Sajad Ahmad under the supervision of and SDPO Sumbal Shri Surinder Mohan-JKPS laid a special checkpoint at Bazipora Ajas. During checking, a vehicle (Swift Car) bearing registration No. DL 9CL-4426 with two persons on board was intercepted. During search, 50 Bottles of Codeine Phosphate concealed in a briefcase were recovered from the said vehicle. Both the persons identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat @Yatri son of Mohmad Sultan Bhat and Zakir Ahmad Chechi son of Abdullah Chechi, both residents of Bazipora Ajas were arrested and shifted to police stations where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 88/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Sumbal and further investigation initiated.
General Public is requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
