Srinagar, Jan 17: A young girl was found dead in a Nallah, under the jurisdiction of Katra Police Station.According to Police, Mamta Devi (28), daughter of Suraj Ram of Kanha, Tehsil Pouni, was found dead in Bhain Nallah, Button, Katra. The body was spotted by some locals, who informed the Police.
While cause of death was yet to be ascertained, it appeared to be a case of suicide, Police said, adding that as per family members of the deceased, Mamta Devi was in depression and she was also taking psychiatric treatment.
The deceased had come to visit her sister and the dead body was found in Nallah near the sister’s house.
Police shifted the dead body to CHC Katra and after the postmortem, it was handed over to the family members for the last rites. Inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC have been initiated in this case at Police Station Katra.
