What would a failed business turn a person into..? The person might venture into another business, quit the business zone and go for a job or in the worst possible case, he might turn into a thief. But a failed business investment turned a doctor into a notorious criminal who brutally killed over 100 of his patients.
Into details, ayurvedic practitioner Devender Sharma who was given a life sentence in 2004 for leading a kidney transplant racket, operating fake gas agency and sell stolen vehicles was recently found guilty of murdering 100 people.
Sharma’s Gand was found to hire taxis and trucks before killing their drivers, robbing them and selling the vehicles. Upon interrogating it was learnt that the doctor with the help of certain middlemen has so far killed more than 100 people so far.
They later used to dump the dead bodies of his victims in Hazra Canal in UP’s Kasganj which reportedly has the largest population of crocodiles so that there was no chance of retrieval of anybody.
Sharma who completed his degree course in 1984 opened a clinic in Bandikui In Rajasthan out of financial crisis opened a fake gas agency along with Raj, Udaiveer and Vedveer, residents of nearby Dalalpur village.
In the process of transporting the cylinders to his fake agency, Sharma and his team used to kill the drivers, dismantle the truck and sell it to scrap.
He was finally arrested but however, restarted the bloodied way even after the release and this time it is taxi drivers. The team hired taxis from Delhi to towns in UP and kill the drivers on the way and fed the bodies of the drivers to the crocodiles in Hazra canal.
Sharma now got involved in the illegal kidney transplant business with the notorious Dr Amit Kumar, who ran a multi-nation racket in illegal kidney sales from Gurugram. In the process of which, his wife and children left his after knowing the illegal businesses.
He was eventually convicted only for seven of the over 100 murders he had admitted to. He was sent to Jaipur jail and spent 16 years there. While his good behaviour earned him 20-day parole, he went underground instead of returning back to jail. Sharma was finally arrested in Delhi on Wednesday.
