Sopore, Mar 24: Continuing its relentless drive against the menace of narcotics smuggling and peddling in the district, Sopore Police arrested a notorious narcotics smuggler namely Gulzar Ahmed Zargar @Sheeda son of Ghulam Hassan Zargar of village Tankipora Bahrampora, Rafiabad and has recovered 1.196 Kg of Charas from his possession.

Statement issued to Greater Now News reads that, During naka checking at Bahrampora Sensing Police presence, Gulzar Ahmad Zargar @Sheeda did try to evade his interception but was caught tactfully and his personal search was carried out in presence of gazetted officer, SDPO Rafiabad.

On weighing of the Charas being carried by Gulzar Zargar @Sheeda, it turned out to be 1.196Kg , which was seized on spot.

During preliminary investigations, Gulzar Ahmed @Sheeda revealed that he was on way to sell the narcotics in small quantities among the youth of Rafiabad.

In this regard Case FIR No 30/ 2022 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Dangiwacha and investigations in the case to unearth this drugs syndicate is in progress and more arrests are expected in this case.

General Public of Police District Sopore are requested to come forward and extend cooperation to Sopore Police and any information regarding anti-social activity may be shared with Police, so that timely action can be taken against the culprit.
