Sopore, Apr 15: Continuing its efforts to curb the drug menace in the Police district, Sopore Police arrested one more notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

In a statement issued to “Greater Now News”, A joint naka by Police Post Watergam and PC Rafiabad under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Shri. Ameen Bhat-JKPS was established at Hadipora crossing, during naka checking one person was roaming in suspicious conditions was intercepted. During his search Contraband narcotics (Heroin like substance) weighting 07 grams were recovered from his possession. The drug peddler was immediately arrested and subsequently identified as: Sajad Ahmad Lone S/O Farooq Ahmad Lone R/O Lorihama Rafiabad.

Accordingly Case FIR No. 38/2022 U/S 8/21 of NDPS Act Stands registered in Police Station Dangiwacha and investigation set into motion.

The initial investigation suggests that drug peddler was going to sell the heroine among the youth of the area.

Local applaud the efforts of Sopore Police, and expect more curbs to eradicate drug menace which has became the root cause of crimes.
