Sopore, April 24:Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the Police District, Sopore Police have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A team of Police Station Bomai headed by SHO Imtiaz Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Zaingeer Shri Muhammad Ameen-JKPS established a checkpoint at zindri crossing intercepted a person identified as Gh Muhammad Lone S/O Late Khazir Muhammad Lone R/O Awura Muqam Kupwara. During checking, officers were able to recover 39 grams of Heroin from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Bomai where he remains in custody.

A case vide FIR number 16/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Bomai and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
