Sopore, Feb 20: Acting tough against the menace of drugs and to make the society drug free, Sopore Police today arrested a notorious drug peddler in Rafiabad of Police District Sopore.

Following the input about drug peddling in the area of Ladoora, a police party of Police Post Watergam headed by DO Watergam Bilal Rashid under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad and SHO Police Station Dangiwacha established a naka at Ladoora crossing and started checking of vehicles and pedestrians.

During checking the police party apprehended a suspicious persons who on preliminary questioning disclosed his identity as Mehraj ud Din Bhat S/O Ghulam Hassan Bhat R/O Ladoora Rafiabad. Upon his personal search 169 capsules of SPASMOPROXYVON Plus were recovered. The said accused has been arrested and taken to Police Station Dangiwacha for further investigation.

A case FIR No.19/2022 US 8/22 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Dangiwacha against the accused and further investigation of the instant case set into motion.

Sopore Police again appeals general public to cooperate with Police by way of sharing inputs related to Drug peddling so that culprits could be curbed effectively.
