Search operation in kawoosa Budgam continues for 3rd consecutive day

 

Marine diverse also pressed into service

Srinagar, Sep 09: Even on third consecutive day, massive searches for suspected militants continued on Wednesday, in Kawoosa village of Budgam district, after forces had exchanged brief gunfire with the suspected militants on Monday.

Official Sources told that searches continued for the third day which were conducted by Army’s 2 RR, Police, CRPF 176 Bn. and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police.

Earlier, on Monday, after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area, a joint team of forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Kawoosa area of Narbal.

“As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering a brief encounter,” source added.

Meanwhile, Police Sources told that Marine commandos, specialized in diving operations were also pressed into service to trace whether any suspected militant, involved in the exchange of fire, had drowned in the nearby stream, but when reports last came in none, dead are alive was found in the ongoing search operation.KDC
