Srinagar, April 19: In a shocking incident, Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested a Sarpanch from North Kashmir’s Baramulla district for allegedly raping a woman.
Quoting sources, a news agency reported that a girl name (withheld) was allegedly raped by a Sarpanch under the jurisdiction of police station Dangiwacha Rafiabad.
Report further reads that accused Sarpanch identified as Ali Mohammad Dar of Rawoocha Rafiabad was arrested after a written application was moved by the relatives of the victim before the Sopore police.
A police officer confirmed the incident to news agency and said a case under FIR no 26/ 2023 under section 376, 506,109 of Indian Penal code was registered in a local police station.
