Jammu, Jan 30: Rich tributes were paid to Khowja Ghulam Mustafa (Founder of fruit mandi Sopore on his death anniversary.

A meeting was convinced at Greater Now office where special prayers were held in memory of Kh Ghulam Mustafa on his death anniversary.

Kh Gh Mustafa Sahib of Watergam Rafiabad was remembered today on his death anniversary and rich tributes were paid to him across the valley and the same function was held at Greater Now News (GNN) office in Jammu.

“In the real means he was and will be considered as hero of Kashmir valley from Watergam town of Rafiabad area, he was a visionary leader who sacrificed his time, money and everything for the sake of people who are associated with Horticulture industry, said Nephew and Editor-in Chief, “Iqbal Amin”.

Throwing light on his journey he describes him as the roaring Lion of 80’s and 90’s whose mission was to make apple growers of Valley self reliant and to get them out of debt trap laid by the commission agents of Fruit Mandi Delhi is remembered all over the valley today on his death anniversary.

“Late Mustafa sahib campaigned and faced thousands of hurdles but he was determined in his mission, remembers Iqbal Amin.

In 1987 he founded Fruit mandi Sopore and MashaAllah it is now Asia’s 2nd largest fruit market, adding even after starting new market, he was presented blank cheque by those commission agents to close down the market, but instead of that It only strengthened his will and he continued his journey.

He was the man who worked day and night only to enlighten lives of poor growers of Valley.

As of now there is yearly turnover of Rs 10000 crore business, due which market always remains abuzz not only in Jammu and Kashmir but in other parts of the country and it is all because of this pious hero.

Half of the population in Kashmir is associated with Horticulture and fruit mandi Sopore is itself an example of his work that people shouldn’t forget, but that mandi should be developed more like other fruit markets of the world.
