Baramulla:Soldiers of the Rafiabad Army 32 RR on Wednesday carried a woman suffering severe Asthama-related complications about 5 km in waist-deep snow in the Rafiabad of North Kashmir.

Company Commander of Tragpora Camp of Rafiabad Army got a distress call from Parraypora that Sajiya Begum (72 Yrs) w/o Gh Mohammad Dar a chronic patient of Asthma was seriously ill and could not be evacuated as the ambulance was not able to reach the destination due to snow accumulation in the bylanes.

The soldiers of Tragpora Camp immediately reached the spot and analysed the situation and arranged for clearance of snow from the bylanes with a dozer.

Without wasting any time the soldiers evacated the patient on stretcher to the highway, where the ambulance was able to reach.

Soldiers kept clearing the snow ahead as the ambulance moved along the snow-covered road. A doctor confirmed the severity of complications that needed immediate medical intervention. The Army personnel remained near highway for any other help.

This timely action by the Rafiabad Army proved important in timely evacuation of an elderly patient.

It is pertinent to mention here that heavy and unprecedented snow had blocked the roads to the villages in Rafiabad.Even parked cars had got covered with snow. ‘Khairiyat’ patrols of Army, meant to check up on the welfare of the villagers, were carried out on foot. Being a ‘Humsaya’ the Mobile numbers of the Army Camps were re-shared with the locals and assistance assured.

True to the slogan of ‘Humsaya hain Hum’ and hours of dedicated effort of Army personnel once again working together, saved a precious life.

The locals also helped and appreciated the efforts of Rafiabad Army and the family members of patient thanked Rafiabad Army with moist eyes.
