Srinagar, Feb 13: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Budgam arrested 02 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Police Station Budgam received an information that 02 drug peddlers are selling contraband substance among the youth at village Mahawara Budgam. Accordingly, Budgam Police swung into action and a team from Police Station Budgam apprehended 02 persons along with 106grams of contraband cannabis & 228 grams of Bung Patri at Mahawara Budgam. They have been identified as Liyaqat Ahmad Baba son of Mohd Yousuf Baba and Umar Ahmad Reshi son of Gh Hassan Reshi, both residents of Gund Ali Naik Budgam. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 30/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
