Baramulla, July 09: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Officers from Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Azadgunj Chowk intercepted a vehicle (Tipper) bearing registration No. JK05C-1097 with one person on board. He has been identified as Mehrajuddin Dar son of Gh Ahmad Dar resident of Jalsheeri Baramulla. During checking officers were able to recover 85 grams of Charas from the vehicle. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

In another action, officers from Police Station Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri at a checkpoint established at NS Bridge Uri intercepted a vehicle (Bus) bearing registration No. JK03-2513 driven by Noor Din Gojri son of Sonaullah Gojri resident of Banglowbagh Baramulla. During checking, officers were able to recover 60 grams of Charas from the vehicle. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

Vehicles used in the commission of crimes have also been seized.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered in respective Police stations and investigations have been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
