Pall of Gloom descends on Kralpora village after four persons died due to asphyxiation

Kupwara 2 July:A pall of gloom descended on Kralpora village as four persons died due to asphyxiation after they entered into a well in Kralpora of North Kashmir’s Kupwara District on Thursday.

The well is situated in Kralpora village of Kupwara District.A labour namely Altaf Sheikh had gone to clean the well but he died of asphyxiation when he entered the well in the Dardpora Kralpora.

As soon as this news spread in the area three persons went to rescue Altaf from the well but as soon as they entered into the well they also died due to asphyxiation.

The three deceased persons have been identified as Showkat Ahmad Khan, Mumtaz Ahmad and Altaf Ahmad Khan all residents of the Kralpora village.

“The labourer did not come out after he went into the well.Three other persons looking for him entered into the well to rescue him but they too died due to asphyxiation in the process told a local while talking to Greater Now.

Deaths that occur when workers enter unused wells or tanks to clean them are not due to poisonous gases,as is widely believed, but because of carbon dioxide which is present at the bottom.
