Poonch, Jan 5: Police seized more than sixty bottles of liquor at Jagal Banola area of Mendhar in Poonch district of Jammu on Tuesday.

“During wee hours today, a joint police and army’s 37 RR party was on patrolling and checking the vehicle in general area of Jagal Banola road and intercepted a van bearing (PBO8AK 4417 ),” a police officer told.

“On seeing the police and army party driver of the van managed to escape after parking the vehicle at some distance away. On checking the vehicle, the party found 17 bottles of XXX ram (liquor) and 47 bottles of whiskey which were being illegally smuggled,” the officer said. A case (FIR No 07/2021) under section 48 (A) Ex. Act was registered against the unknown driver.

“The vehicle and liquor were seized and investigations are going on,” SHO Mendhar Manzoor Kohli confirmed.
