Srinagar 08 October : One militant was killed by police in a shootout on Friday late evening in Srinagar’s Natipora area near post office, as per police.

Police said that the militants fired upon Srinagar police and the same was retaliated from the other end, which ensued in the gunfight.

In the shootout, one militant is said to have been killed. However, the other one is said to have escaped from the spot.

Police further said that arms and ammunition have been recovered and the identification of the slain militant is being ascertained.

The shootout comes in the Srinagar when the district has already saw a spree of civilians killings and the consequent scaling up of the security.
