MGNREGA Employees extend peaceful pen down strike upto 31August, appeal Lt Governor to intervene

Srinagar:MGNREGA employees association Jammu Kashmir have announced extension of their pen down strike upto 31 August.
In a statement to Greater Now JK MGNREGA Employees association told that in wake of non serious approach shown by the administration, particularly RDD & PR department we have decided to extend our ongoing peaceful pen down Strike for three more days.
The Employees Association also told that they have decided to extend the ongoing pen
down protest for a period of three working days in wake of non-serious approach
shown by the Government /administration to redress their long pending legitimate demand
of absorption/ Regularization in RD & PR Department against the available vacant posts of
the Department.
The employees while talking to Greater Now also told that highly qualified youth are working in the department on contractual basis on a monthly consolidated amount of 6000 to 7000 due to which we are not able to meet our daily expenses.
From last many years we are moving from pillar to post to get our genuine demand of regularisation and absorption in the Rural development department addressed but to no avail, that’s why we have decided to go on a pen down strike and if administration will fail to address our issue then we will intensify our protest told an MGNREGA employee while talking to Greater Now.
The MGNREGA employees association which includes Social Audit Coordinators, Programme
Officers, Technical Assistants, MISO’s, Gram Rozgar Sahayaks, and AAAO’s appealed Lieutenant Governor and Advisor (BK) RDD & PR to kindly intervene so that it will be in the interest of Justice.
