Kupwara, Jan 23: Body of a mentally challenged woman was spotted lying under a bridge, adjacent to main-town Kupwara here on Saturday morning.

Reports reaching said that the passerbys upon spotting the body under the bridge at Regipora, intimated the local police, who according to them, have taken the mortal remains into their custody.

A police official confirming the incident told  that “Body of an unidentified woman found at Regipora was being taken to Sub-District Hospital for conduct of medical formalities” adding that “A case under section 174 CrPC has been simultaneously initiated to ascertain the cause of death.”

The locals have in the meantime said that the (now deceased) woman, who was off and on seen roaming in the main-market area, had survived a brutal canine attack few months back, after she was immediately removed to nearby health facility by a group of local journalists.
