Baramulla, Mar 31: In a bid to provide free Legal Services to the unorganized sections of the society and to organize Lok Adalats for amicable settlement of disputes, an awareness programme on Implementation of The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) Scheme 2015, was held today at Officers Club Uri. The awareness programme was organized by Tehsil Legal Services Committee Uri in an active collaboration with District Legal Services Authority Baramulla.
During the event, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Baramulla, Fariqa Nazir spoke on the Rights of Senior Citizens and underlined that Law students should actively participate in legal awareness programmes more particularly meant for welfare of Senior citizens.
She also spoke on various welfare schemes meant for the benefit of Citizens and stated that free legal aid is to be provided to weaker sections of the society, women and child so that the doors of justice are open to all irrespective of their status in life.
Underlining the need for engagement of Law Students in such awareness programmes, the Sub-Judge Uri Althaf Ahmad Khan asserted that people belonging to inaccessible area may be benefitted and people belonging to marginalized sections of the society are benefitted.
Mobile Magistrate Sopore, Shafiq Mushtaq also spoke on the occassion and said that more and more such kind of programmes shall be conducted in future so that students and the society as a whole gets benefitted.
