JKNC expels four corporators for Voting against Junaid Azim Mattu

Srinagar, June 16: National Conference had decided to abstain from voting on the no-confidence motion against the Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Junaid Azim Mattu and expelled those for defying the party whip.

“NC had announced and directed it’s Corporators to abstain from participating in No Confidence motion in SMC. The four corporators out of our 11 who voted in this vote of no confidence are hereby expelled from the party. They are GN Sofi, Neelofar, Danish Bhat and Majid Shulloo,” JKNC in a tweet said.

Pertinently, Junaid Azim mattu, Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC),  has been removed from his post on Tuesday after a majority of 40 corporators passed a no-confidence motion against him headed by Wahid Ahmad Dar, counsellor of Ward 72 Zukura.

Meanwhile, Mattu changing his profile from Mayor to Former Mayor tweeted, “No Confidence Motion” against me, and the @JKPC_ (Jammu and Kashmir People”s Conference) has been passed in the SMC with 42 votes out of 70. The @BJP4India, @JKNC_ (Jammu and Kashmir National Conference) and some independents have polled against the @JKPC_ and @INCIndia abstaining whip where 28 Corporators abstained.”
