Sopore, Oct 06: Sopore police acting against illegal timber smuggling, seized illicit forest timber in Rohama Rafiabad.

Police in a statement issued to Greater Now News said that, “Acting on a specific information about timber smuggling in Rafiabad, a police party of Police Station Panzla led by SHO Police Station Panzla Insp. Mudasir Shafi along with forest Department under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Shri. Muhammad Amin-JKPS established a naka in Rohama and intercepted a Tata mobile bearing registration number JKO5H 7897 during the search recovered large quantity of illicit forest timber, both accused identified as: Musadiq Farooq and Ubaid Farooq Sons of Farooq Ahmad Dar R/O Malganipora Pazalpora arrested on spot.

In this regard Case FIR No. 111/2021 U/S 379 IPC & 26 Indian Forest Act has been registered in PS Panzla. Investigation of the case is going on.
