Srinagar, June 30: Acting tough against the elements involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police have seized 18 vehicles involved in the commission of crime in Handwara and Sopore.
In Handwara, a Police party of PS Handwara alongwith Geology & Mining Department seized 06 vehicles (Tippers) bearing registration numbers JK01F-5298, JK02U-7092, JK02AF-8517, JK03-7788, JK05B-0114, JK09-2748 for illegal extractions & transportation of minerals from Government land at Nalla Waskura.
In Sopore, a Police party of PS Dangiwacha and Police Post Watergam under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad seized 12 vehicles (Tractors) for illegal extractions & transportation of minerals from the Nallah Hamal Yarbugh.
Police requests the people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
