Baramulla: Leading Telecommuication company , Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) landline and broadband subscribers in Watergam Rafiabad and it’s adjoining areas are up in arms against the concerned authorities for failing to restore the service in the area from last two weeks.
The BSNL exchange in Watergam Rafiabad of Baramulla remains defunct amid the lockdown rendering the all landline numbers and broadband services defunct much to the inconvenience of people.
The residents say that the exchange did not work properly earlier as well but since the last many days now it is completely defunct. As a result, several hundred landline telephones are dead in the area giving tough time to the subscribers.
Official sources said that the Exchange of the BSNL located at Watergam is lying defunct/ non-functional and despite repeated complaints by the public the company is least bothered about the restoration of the services.
With the non-functioning of these telephone exchanges, nearly 200 landline connections were affected.
Locals while talking to Greater Now said that despite back to back requests to the authorities , the officials have turned blind eye towards the matter and haven’t restored the defunct landline and broadband connections till now.
“Frequent problems in our Watergam BSNL exchange are always annoying me as due to the these problems, I am not able to complete my work (Mails and other things) on time ,” said a subscriber from Watergam Rafiabad.
He added that we are paying bills and fee on time, but BSNL authorities have time and again failed to provide appropriate services in our favour despite all that.
While talking to Greater Now, Subscribers have urged BSNL authorities to personally look into the matter and restore their defunct connections as early as possible so that locals may not suffer more in future
