DC B’la Chairs Meet, Reviews Progress of JJM in District

Baramulla, May 22: The District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar who is also Chairperson of District Jal Jeevan Mission Committee today convened a meeting to review the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) across the district.

 

The DC reviewed the status of progress of under construction Water Supply Schemes, Detailed project Reports, revising of Detailed action plan, tendering, work allotments under JJM.

 

On the occasion, a threadbare discussion was held with regard to various important schemes being implemented in the district for the augmentation of the water supply.

 

Pertinently, Jal Jeevan Mission, is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections to all households in rural India.

 

The DC reviewed the physical and financial progress of the works being executed under JJM during which the committee approved the start of works which will be initiated very soon for timely completion.

 

The DC directed all officers of PHE to ensure that quality parameters in works should be strictly adhered to in letter and spirit.

 

The meeting was informed that 238 schemes shall be implemented at a cost of Rs. 820 crores under JJM project across the district including Pattan, Baramulla, Rafiabad, Sopore, Tangmarg and Uri.

 

Elucidating further, the meeting was informed that 109 retrofitting and 129 new schemes were introduced in the district which include 19 production walls and 02 overhead tanks.

 

The DC also took the detailed review of estimations, rate revisions, tendering, allotments for construction of filtration plants and laying of pipelines and other related works.

 

Asserting that JJM is a major flagship programme to cover all households, the DC directed all the officers to work in coordination and ensure smooth execution of JJM works in their areas.

 

She directed that besides all households be connected through tap water and all pending panchayat ghars shall also be provided with tap water connections under JJM scheme across the district.

 

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning M Yosuf Rather, Superintending Engineer JJM, M.Haneef, District Social Welfare Officer, Divisional Forest Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineers PHE, District Information Officer besides other dignitaries.
