Srinagar:The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) held a protest in Srinagar against the anti-employee policies of the government.
According to a statement issued to Greater Now many associations in unison including Horticulture Non-Gazetted Employees Union, Kashmir Constructional Workers Union, Asha Workers Union Kashmir, Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union J&K, Kashmir Handicraft Workers and Artisans Union, Casual Labourers of Power Development Department (PDD), Public Heath Engineering (PHE) and other departments held a protest organised by CITU.
The associations raised slogans against anti-people and anti-employee decisions of the government, demanding the people at the helm to change their behavior.
One of the protesters while talking to Greater Now told that Government should make the Centrally Sponsored Schemes like ICDS, NHM and MDMS permanent with adequate budget allocation and government should Implement the recommendations of 45th and 46th ILC for regularization of scheme workers as workers and also government should pay minimum wages Rs.21000 per month and pension Rs.10000 per month and Provide ESI and PF to all scheme workers.
The protestors also demanded Safety gear for all frontline workers, especially the ASHA workers, anganwadi workers and those in the health sector; PPEs for those who are engaged in containment areas and red zone.
covering all deaths on duty and Pension/jobs for the dependants of the workers and also coverage of treatment for Covid-19 for the entire family.
The protestors also demanded Additional Covid Risk Allowance of Rs.10,000 per month for all the contract and scheme workers engaged in Covid -19 duty, especially ASHA and anganwadi workers and workers of NHM.
The protesters under the banner of CITU demanded government to change their behavior at an earliest so that the people especially labourers would heave a sigh of relief.
