Sopore, Oct 19 : A week after drowning in river Jhelum, body of a shepherd was recovered from river Jhelum in North Kashmir’s Sopore area on Tuesday afternoon

Nazir Ahmad Cheechi(20) son of Mohammad Yousuf Cheechi, a resident of Panaar Bandipora was drowned in river Jhelum at Seer Jageer area of Sopore on 13th of this month.

An official confirmed and told that a rescue operation was launched soon after he drowned however the body couldn’t be retrieved immediately, and today after a week the body was spotted near Seer Jageer area and accordingly retrieved.

After legal formalities the body was handed over to the family for last rites, official added.
