Baramulla, Oct 04: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 04 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

Police in a statement issued to Greater Now News said that, “Acting on specific information, a Police party from Police Station Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Shri Syed Sajad Ahmad-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Khanpora Baramulla arrested four drug peddlers identified as Mohd Azad Mir son of Ab Aziz Mir resident of Favorite Uri, Mohd Zameer Khan son of Mutwali Khan resident of Khanpora, Ab Rashid Khan son of Mohd Akbar Resident of Shah-i-Hamdan Colony and Altaf Hussain Darzi son of Late Gh Hassan Darzi resident of Tawheed Gunj Baramulla. During checking, officers were able to recover 780 grams of Heroin from their possession. They have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody”.

During preliminary investigation it surfaced that the accused drug peddlers are involved in supplying drugs among the youth of Town Baramulla and its surrounding areas.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Baramulla and further investigations has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
