Rafiabad:A group of 27 talented young students along with three teachers from Madrassa Islamia Arabia Taleemudeen (Firozpura), Darloom Qadria of Nowgam and Darloom Sharfia from Rohama proved their skills at extemporaneous speaking at “Just A Minute” contest held at Hadipura Government High School on 14 Dec 2022.

The competition, which was open to children aged 6 to 12, challenges participants to speak on a variety of topics without any prior preparation or rehearsal.

This year’s event featured a wide range of topics, including “Role of Schooling”, My Favourite Subject, My Favourite Place in J&K and My Favourite Season.

The judges were teachers who were impressed by the poise and confidence
displayed by the young speakers, who delivered their speeches with passion and clarity.

In the end, the top prize was awarded to 11-year-old Ghulam Quadir from
Rohama , who spoke eloquently on the topic of “My Favourite Place in J&K”.
“Gulam Quadir was just fantastic,” said teacher Gulam Mustafa. “He had a great
introduction, a clear thesis statement, and he used lots of specific examples to
support her points. He brought finer nuances of Kashmir.”

The contest was a highlight of the Tragpura Army Camp’s efforts to engage with local students to enhance civil military connect.

“We believe that public speaking is a valuable skill for children to develop, and this contest is a fun and engaging way to do that,” said Shabir Ahmed who is cultural Head at Higher Secondary School Hadipora. “We’re so proud of all of the participants and their hard work of students from Madrassa. “Its truly a Badalta Kashmir”.
