Army’s 62 RR launches awareness programme in Shopian

Shopian:62 Rashtriya Rifles launches an awareness campaign regarding the coronavirus pandemic in the remote area of District Shopian.

The Army  launched awareness campaign to reach out to the people in remote and rural area of Shopian district to educate and assist them how to fight against coronavirus.

As a part of this initiative, people living in the remote villages of district Shopian were educated about the symptoms, causes of spread and how to overcome the spread of COVID-19 by displaying of flex boards at prominent places and distribution of pamphlets with Masks and other related things.

In various other areas,army came out to help the administration in the war against COVID-19 from last many months as army is giving their best to support Locals as well as Administration.

The Army Doctors made people aware of the importance of wearing Mask while moving out with following proper precautions to remain safe in this pandemic.

An official while talking to Greater Now told that “We know that the people of Shopian are quite sensible and they do practice safest methods to contain spread of Covid-19. However there are a few who may not be able to afford even a mask. So we thought we will try to help them as well through this exercise,On the occasion, pedestrians who were not wearing masks were given one and requested to wear one all the time.

Army also requested civil society and the business community of Shopian to raise awareness among people regarding the use of mask in these extraordinary times.

Another official told that We felt it was our responsibility to do our bit and let people know how important it was to wear masks and take other precautions so that human lives are saved.

People of the area have appreciated the friendly gesture of the Army.
