Amshipora fake ecounter: Family accuses police of ‘falsely’ implicating their son
Srinagar, Oct 5: A family from South Kashmir’s Shopian district Monday accused police of ‘falsely’ implicating their son with regard to Amshipora fake encounter. The family staged a protest here in Press Enclave Srinagar and sought intervention of Lieutenant Governor in releasing their son.
The parents of Tabish Nazir Malik from Sugan village of Shopian told reporters that after the outcry about the Amshipora fake encounter, Tabish was picked up on August 18 by Army and subsequently handed over to local police who produced him before court in connection with Amshipora encounter.
“Our son Tabish has nothing to do with the Amshipora fake encounter. He is being made scapegoat to save the real culprits,” Nazir Ahmed, the father of Tabish said adding that he was ‘compelled’ to sign a blank paper inside the police station.
“Our son is not an Army informer as is being claimed. He is a labourer and has nothing to do with the Amshipora encounter,” they said and demanded thorough probe into the arrest of their son.
“LG Manoj Sinha is the only hope for us who can ensure a fair probe and release of their son,” they said.
Pertinently, three young labourers from Rajouri were killed on 18 July and passed on as militants in Amshipora gunfight. (KNT)
