Baramulla:The Kreeri encounter between militants and security forces entered the second day on Tuesday, with officials confirming that one militant is still trapped and heavy exchange of firing is going on.
On Monday three militants were killed and four security personnel also lost their lives in the initial exchange of firing. Reports said that after a night-long lull, afresh encounter continues on second day as firing was witnessed in Kreeri area on Tuesday morning.
An official told Greater Now that the operation was on as militant was believed to be trapped in the area.
The operation was jointly carried out by the Army’s 29 Rashtriya Rifles and special operations group of J&K police and CRPF. A police official said that the operation was put on halt due to darkness even as a search for the bodies of militants continued throughout the night and in the morning as well.
But in the morning as the searches were going on,militant opened fire at the forces triggering the encounter again. In the ensuing,one militant is still believed to be trapped addded an official while talking to Greater Now.
