Kupwara:The important road link connecting Aawura Reshawari with the rest of District and National highway has been facing apathy by the concerned authorities as many other roads have been black topped and repaired, yet after the passage of several months and with the arrival of winter none of the official has taken any initiative to make it convenient for people who are forced to pass through this worst damaged road stretch.
As per locals the stretch which connects various areas and localities has been ignored by the authorities, while a big responsibility of damaged road is the R&B Department, who did not want repairing of potholes or blacktopping of this road stretch, for the reasons known to them.
The road is in a dilapidated condition and the inhabitants alleged that successive regimes had paid no attention to the macadamization of the road. Inhabitants of the locality alleged that crores of rupees are being released for construction and maintenance of roads but unfortunately this stretch has not been black topped which shows the apathy of the concerned departments.
While talking to Greater Now a local resident of the area said that the road linking the several localities is widely used by the locals but being a dirty track it gives a bumpy ride, hampering the flow of traffic, making stretch dusty and needed to be blacktopped at the earliest. He also added that Pedestrians are not able to walk at due to the big potholes and water logging.
A school teacher wishing Anonymity said that inhabitants had to suffer a lot while using this particular stretch, but being a major link road we have left with no option besides plying over vehicles with jerks and troubles.
The locals further informed that the road is an important link for people mostly students of the area to attend colleges, schools located in the adjoining localities.
The ramshackle condition of the road can be gauged by the reality that vehicle owners un willfully use this road as potholes damage their vehicles, similarly students who have to pass through the road to attend schools say it’s a “nightmare for them to walk on the road during rainy season.”
A local shopkeeper of the area narrates the trauma which the local populace has to face each day due to this road being in shambles, since road is quite dusty, locals were suffering from throat infections and added that blacktopping of road had been the longstanding demand of people of the area.
The residents of the area while talking to Greater Now appealed Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Engineer R&B to kindly intervene so that people of the area will not suffer any further hardships.
