Baramulla, May 31:(GN) In action undertaken by Police Station Kreeri under the supervision of Sh. Tariq Mehmood-JKPS (SDPO Kreeri) arrested 02 drug peddlers Aaqib Nazir S/O Nazir Ahmad Kaloo and Owais Ahmad Shikari S/O Bashir Ahmad Shikari Rs/O Sher Colony Sopore, District Baramulla at Kreeri Market and recovered contraband 1.5 kg of Poppy Straw like substance from their possession. In this regard, case under sections of NDPS Act has been registered in concerned Police Station and investigation taken up.

Similarly, in action undertaken by Police Station Pattan under the supervision of Sh. Zaffar Mehdi-JKPS (SDPO Pattan) arrested 02 drug peddlers namely Mohd. Akram Bhat S/O Abdul Ahad Bhat R/O Pethgam Wagoora Kreeri and Khursheed Ahmad Mir S/O Ali Mohd Mir R/O Saloosa Kreeri at Zangam Pattan and recovered contraband 1Kg of Charas like substance from their possession. In this regard, case under sections of NDPS has been registered in concerned Police Station and investigation taken up.

Moreover, in action undertaken by Police Station Baramulla under the supervision of Syed Sajad Hussain Bukhari-JKPS (DySP Hqrs) arrested 04 drug peddlers Sohain Hamid S/O Abdul Hamid Patigroo R/O Warpora Sopore A/P Ushkara Baramulla, Abdul Majeed Mir S/O Abdul Ahad Mir R/O Bagh-e-Islam Baramulla, Manzoor Ahmad Lone S/O Abdul Hamid Lone R/O Ladoora Rohama Baramulla, Farooq Ahmad Dar @ Mun Dar S/O Abdul Satar Dar R/O Ganie Hamam Baramulla at Ushkara & Khawajabagh and recovered Codeine 126 bottles from their possession. In this regard, case under sections of NDPS has been registered in concerned Police Station and investigation taken up.

Furthermore, in action undertaken by Police Station Kunzer under the supervision of Sh. Hilal Khaliq-JKPS (SDPO Tangmarg) arrested 02 drug peddlers videlicet Farooq Ahmad Lone S/O Gh Ahmad Lone R/O Khochipora Tangmarg & Aijaz Ahmad Mir S/O Ab Rehman Mir R/O Pandithpora Tangmarg at Dhobiwan and recovered contraband 700 grams of Charas like substance from their possession. In this regard, case under sections of NDPS has been registered in concerned Police Station and investigation taken up.

It is pertinent to mention here that the constant pressure was mounted upon the drug peddlers to curb this menace, which resulted decline in drug trafficking in the district during the month of May, 2021.

During the month of May, Baramulla Police arrested 28 drug peddlers, registered 12 cases and seized narcotic substances worth 2.2 crores (approx.) As per value of pure contraband on the black market. This is after the huge success in the month of April.
