Doda:Acting tough against drug mafia and smugglers today in an action against people involved in peddling of narcotics, Doda police on Saturday arrested five person recovering a consignment of Charas from their possession.

Police team headed by DySP HQ Doda, Jaswant Singh and SHO Doda Arun Parkash Sharma under the supervision of SSP Doda Mumtaz Ahmed was on routine naka duty at Khellani naka in Doda when a vehicle was signalled to stop.

The boarders of this vehicle tried to evade police frisking and started to behave suspiciously after which the vehicle was put to thorough frisking.

During frisking, police said, 40 rolls (Challies) weighing 860 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession and all five have been arrested.

They include Ikhlaq Ahmed son of Mohd Azim Wani resident of Bhalla Bhaderwah, Abid Iqbal son of Farooq Ahmed resident of Bhalla Bhaderwah, Mohd Amin son of Shafqat Ullah resident of Rishupora Bhalla Bhederwah, Ashiq Ahmed son of Abdul Latief Sheikh
resident of Bhalla Bhaderwah and Manjeet Raj son of Shadi Lal resident of Drudu,Bhaderwah.

Local populace has lauded the role of SSP Doda and Dysp Headquarter Doda Mr Jaswant Singh for acting tough against drug peddlers.

Police further said to have registered a case in FIR 75/21 under sections 8/20/29 of NDPS Act.
