Srinagar,Jan 30: To promote mutual understanding and unity among journalists representing different print and electronic media organisations in Pattan Sub Division of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district,Media Association Pattan (MAP) on Saturday elected Rahi Nisar – Gulistan News Correspondent as the President MAP for a two year period.
In a statement issued to “Greater Now News”MAP under the banner of Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA) and North Kashmir Journalist Association-an amalgam of journalists association of north Kashmir districts- held its annual elections in which Rahi Nisar – News Correspondent Gulistan TV was declared as President, Saleem Farooq as Chairman, Latief Bhat Chief Patron, News 18 Urdu Correspondent Muneer Hussain Hurrah Vice President.
The election process and declaration of results were conducted and observed by senior journalists of north Kashmir and Chairman BWJA Haji Karamat Qayoom- Sherbeen –Radio Kashmir Srinagar, Senior Journalists Zagar Gulzar, Editor in Chief Kashmir Crown Shahid Imran besides the entire process was held under the supervision adminstrative officials.
Speaking on the ocassion, Chairman BWJA Haji Karamat Qayoom said that Journalism a noble profession and every journalist should work honestly to make the fourth estate strong and uphold its dignity.
“We will issue identity cards to members of MAP under BWJA very soon, so that officials will recognise them easily during any event,” Karamat Qayoom said. Adding that the journalists of said body will also be covered under life insurance.
SDM Pattan, SDPO Pattan, Tehsildar Pattan, Tehsildar Singhpora, Principal ITI, Traders Association President Pattan and various dignitries was present on the Occassion.
Meanwhile, Doordarshan News Reporter Sami Ullah was elected as Chief Organiser, KC Correspondent Irfan Tilgami as General Secretary, Daily GMK Correspondent Kirmani Aafaq as Advisior to President, Desk Editor CNI Yaseen Shahbaz as Advisor to Chairman, and Mohsin Khan as spokesperson of MAP.
