Sopore:179 battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) distributed wheelchairs to two handicapped persons and essential medicines to two critically ill patients in Wadoora payeen Sopore on Saturday.
The wheel chairs were handed over by Commandant 179 battalion Mr Rabish Kumar singh to two persons who are handicapped due to polio at Wadoora payeen.
CRPF said it intends to reach out to people in remote areas and extend medical help to them.
“Camps like these also enhance the connection with people and go a long way in strengthening the bond between CRPF and the local populace and this will go a long way in benefiting the elderly and all those who require such assistance told a local.
It is pertinent to mention that 179 battalion of CRPF has been in forefront of activities which benefit various sections of society. Various welfare projects have been undertaken in and around Sopore from time to time.
The handicapped persons namely Ghulam Nabi Mir and Hilal Ahmad Bhat have been affected by polio since birth. Their parents had lost their hope to the killer disease and they used to carry their sons on their shoulders and to ease the movement of the both the CRPF under its Madadgaar initiative donated the wheelchairs to the family.a
Commandant 179 battalion Mr Rabish Kumar Singh while taking to Greater Now assured that these programmes will continue in future and they are always ready to help local populace.
Parents of handicapped persons and locals while thanking 179 battalion of CRPF lauded their efforts and friendly gesture.
