Her relatives informed, that deceased girl was busy in cooking when the fire broke out due to gas leakage. She suffered serious burn injuries in the incident.

“The girl was immediately shifted to DH Kupwara and from there to SKIMS Srinagar and was declared dead on arrival there,” they said.

Police identified the dead girl as Masrat Bano daughter of Ghulam Rasool Tantry of Varnov Lolab of Kupwara

 “When she screamed for help, her three relatives went to save her and in the process suffered burns. Some neighbours rescued them while the elderly woman got trapped inside,” said a police officer.
