Handwara, Mar 27: Residents of various villages of the Mawer area and Qaziabad on Saturday complained that they are without drinking water for the last four days and the concerned department is in deep slumber.
Reporting reaching “Greater Now News”, said that in Mawer area villages including, Audoora, Cheki Audoora, Warpora are without portable drinking water as the pipeline has got damaged from the station where the water is being distributed due to heavy rains early this week.
The residents of this area while talking to “Greater Now”,said that they are facing a lot of problems due to the non-availability of drinking water and they are fetching the drinking water for the nearby streams which can cause them water-borne diseases.
They have appealed to the Jal shatki department to restore the water supply to the area at the earliest so that people will take sign of relief.
Sarpanch Audoora G R Teli told he has requested the concerned officials several times but to no avail.
Similar complaisant were also received from various villages of Qaziababad, the villages including Palpora, Mandigam, Kuchloo, Sikh Dedarpora, said they are without drinking water for the last three months and the concerned department is paying no heed towards it.
A local resident of the area Mohammad Abass said the department has never paid attention towards this area and they have turned blind eye to this particular area.
The residents of these areas have urged Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Imam Din to direct the concerned department to restore the water supply in the area at the earliest.
