Bandipora, Sept 27: Bandipora Police continuing its war against the drug menace arrests a drug peddler at Bazipora Ajas Sumbal and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

In a statement issued to Greater Now News, Police said that acting on a specific information regarding movement of a drug peddler a special naka was laid at Bazipora Ajas by a police team led by I/C PP Ajas Inspector Sajad Ahmad, under the supervision of SDPO Sumbal Shri Surender Mohan -JKPS. During checking one suspicious person driving a Car bearing registration No. JK15A-8320 was stopped, during search 600 Capsules of contraband drug Tramadol Hydrochloride were recovered.

Police identified the accused as Manzoor Ahmad Rather S/o Mohmad Maqbool Rather R/o Bazipora Ajas Sumbal was arrested and his Car was also seized.

During preliminary enquiry it was revealed that the accused is running a medical shop in Ajas and was involved in supplying drugs to youths of the area to make them drug addicts. Accordingly Case FIR No.128/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered in police station Sumbal and further investigation has been taken up, statement added.

People are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers and help Police in eradicating the menace of drugs.(Greater Now News)
