Ganderbal : Several houses and standing crop over dozens kanals of land got damaged due to a breach in the power canal in Ganderbal district on Friday.

The residents of Baba Wayil, Tickbagh Nunner, Babusarbagh said that ater entered into the paddy fields and many residential houses. It also washed away a cow shed.

They said that it was not for the first time that the canal had developed cracks and water had entered their houses and fields. “Breaches have been taking place constantly, but officials are least bothered about it.

This canal poses a serious threat to our lives. Either government should stop these breaches or it should shift us to a safer place,” They said.

They said that Traffic on Ganderbal Kangan road has been suspended

Sources said that police, SRDF are on job to take them to safer places and avert more damages.
