Srinagar, July 16: A top Police official Friday evening said that no militant attack took place in Kupwara but it was a misfire by cop that create ‘chaos.’

Some media reports earlier claimed that a BJP worker who is also a son of district President Mohammad Shafi was shot when they were distributing some food items among locals ahead of Eid in Kupwara.

“It was a misfire by one of the PSOs in the car sitting with Ishfaq. The other PSO fired in fear and one bullet hit in the arm of Ishfaq,” said a top Police officer.

He added that the injured has been shifted to hospital and is stable.
