Shopian, June 23: South Kashmir’s Shopian encounter has ended with the killing of a militant.

Sources told that after the recovery of the body of a militant, a combing operation was launched, however, there was no retaliation from militants.

Sources added that at least two militants managed to escape from the spot during initial launch of cordon and search operation at Heff Shirmal near Rambiara nallah, however, there was no police confirmation in this regard.

A pistol and a grenade have been recovered from the spot of the encounter.

Sources said that militants and the Joint Forces came face to face in an open area near Rambiara Nallah. The area was sealed by soldiers from 44 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operations Group and CRPF personnel from 178 Battalion following inputs about the movement of militants.
