Legal Metrology Department Books Medical Shops for Violating Labelling Norms in Sale of Oximeters

Baramulla, June 22: Legal Metrology Unit Baramulla registered cases against two medical shops in Baramulla for sale of Pulse Oximeters in violation of Section 18 and Section 36 (1) of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 read with Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.

 

In one case, a medical shop was offering for sale Oximeters with dual Maximum Retail Price (MRP). Identical product with same month and year of manufacture was bearing different MRPs (Rs. 2999 and Rs. 3999). In another case, a medical shop was offering for sale Oximeters which did not bear statutory declarations.

 

Legal Metrology team seized the deceptive products and issued seizure memo against the medical shops on spot. Further legal proceedings are underway in both cases.
