Kupwara, May 24: On the directions of SP Handwara Mr Sandeep Gupta IPS, all entry points towards Kamil nala were dug out by SHO Vilgam Insp Iftikar Ahmad in order to stop illegal extraction of Sand, bajri and boulders.

SHO PS Vilgam while talking to “Greater Now” said that sand mafia is involved in theft of sand and bajri and use several tactics for extracting sand and bajri from the nallah, after receiving complaint against the loot particularly in night hours,Police swung into action and therefore it was necessary to dug the entry and exit points so as to prevent the loot and preserve the natural resources.

Persons involved in these types of loot are warned to avoid such acts in future, anybody found indulging in such activity will be dealt strictly under law, I request common masses to follow Covid-19 SOPs in letter and spirit so as to break the chain, safety of local populace is prior to everything and J&K Police is putting all possible efforts on ground, SHO added.
