Sopore, Apr 16: Sopore Police held three persons including two Budgam residents along with heroin like substance during a Naka in Hadipora area of Sopore in Baramulla district.

Acting tough against drug peddlers in Police District, a joint naka was established by Police Post Watergam and PC Rafiabad headed by DO Watergam PSI Bilal Rashid, under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Shri. Ameen Bhat-JKPS and SHO Police Station Dangiwacha Insp. Imtiyaz Ahmad established a naka at Hadipora crossing. During naka checking one vehicle bearing registration No. JK01N-6987 was intercepted for checking in which three persons were boarded. During search 42 grams of Heroine like substance were recovered from the said vehicle. However, the accused persons have been arrested on spot which were identified as 1. Zahid Ahmad Rather S/O Ghulam Nabi Rather 2. Riyaz Ahmad Rather S/O Muhammad Shafi both the residents of Nasrulapora Budgam and 3. Manzoor Ahmad Ganie S/O Ghulam Qadir Ganie R/O Behrampora Rafiabad and the said vehicle used for commission of crime has also been seized, reads a statement issued to Greater Now News.

Accordingly case FIR No. 41/2022 U/S 8/21, 29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha and investigation has been initiated.

Sopore Police requests general public to come forward with information regarding drug peddlers of their areas so that drug menace can be eradicated from the Police District Sopore.
