Sopore Police held three hybrid militants, Arms and ammunitions, cash recovered

Sopore, Apr 11: Police claimed to have arrested three LeT hybrid militants in Sopore area, in a statement issued to Greater Now News reads that, Today on 11 April 2022, at about 1935 hours, a joint naka by Sopore police, 22 RR and 179 CRPF was established near Sunwani bridge Wadoora Bala in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bomai.

During naka checking at about 2010 hours it was noted that three persons coming from Wadoora Bala towards Sunwani bridge were roaming in suspicious conditions and were subsequently asked to stop, but they tried to flee from the spot, however they were apprehended tactfully by the vigilant security forces. Upon their personal search, 3 pistols, 3 pistol magazines, 22 pistol rounds, 1 grenade and cash amounting to rupees 79,800 were recovered from their possession.

 

During preliminary questioning , they revealed their identity as

 

1. Tufail Majid Mir S/O Ab Majeed Mir R /O Brath Kalan

 

2. Owais Ahmad Mir, S/O Gh Hassan Mir, R/O Brath Kalan

 

3. Shabir Ahmad Wagay, S/O Nazir Ahmed, R/O Warpora

 

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested persons are hybrid militants of proscribed organisation LeT and were in constant search of an opportunity to carry out strikes on security forces and civilians.

 

In this connection case FIR No. 16/2022 U/S 18, 23, 38 ULAP Act has been registered at Police Station Bomai. Further investigation is still going on.
