Baramulla,Jan 10: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar has said that by virtue of the tremendous efforts of Health staff besides with a good health infrastructure and with the corporation of general public, district Baramulla is fully prepared to combat the arising situation due to Covid here.
He was briefing this to media here today during which he said that the situation is strictly monitored on the district level.
The DC said that 180’new cases were found last week while as about 40 cases are being reported daily in the district since last three days. He said that may be the positivity rate can increase in coming days, so all the necessary arrangements have been made to tackle the situation.
Regarding testing process, the DC briefed that 3500 to 4000 RTPC and other rapid tests are being performed at GMC Baramulla on daily basis and the administration is trying utmost to make early detection of the cases so that the virus will not affect others.
Secondly, in order to control the disease, necessary SOP’s and Covid Appropriate Behaviour are being implemented in letter and spirit across the district, for this purpose, the DC appealed the general public to wear face masks and avoid unnecessary traveling and attending huge and croud full gatherings.
The DC further said that with a view to handle the increasing situation, Oxygen beds capacity has been increased against the 2nd wave which was less than 1000 LPM and now is touching to 6000. Moreover, about 1200 concentrators plus bulk cylinders are sufficient available in the district.
In terms of bed availability, Oxygen availability and other infrastructure, the district is in a better position as compared to the first and second wave of the pandemic, the DC added. The DC appealed the religious leaders, traders and other prominent citizens to put their efforts and make the common people aware about the covid 19 SOP’s.
Meanwhile, the precautionery Dose of vaccination drive for front line workers was launched across the district today under which above 60 year age people are being vaccinated. The drive was started at medical block Baramulla where Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bashir Ahmed Malik took the precautionery dose.
