Baramulla, Sept 22: On 12 September, a cloudburst occured in higher Kafar Nar area of Rafiabad about 25 kms from town watergam which led to devastating flashfloods in Kafar Nar impacting human and livestock lives.
Army Camp Duniwar with Civil Administration teams led the rescue operation post receipt of information about loss of family members of a Bakarwal located at Kafar Nar Y Junction.
The display of initiative, cohesive and joint effort of Rafiabad Battalion, Civil Administration, Police and Locals was commendable and praise worthy.
Worth to mention here that by the tireless efforts of Army, Police, Civil administration and Locals all the five dead bodies of Bakarwal family were recovered within 24 hours of incident and injured were hospitalized.
In order to motivate and encourage such acts today Commander Pohrupet Sector felicitated the Panchayats of Kandi Block Pazalpora Halqa A & B for their initiative and selfless attitude displayed during the calamity.
Forest Official Mr Parvez Ahmad Bhat from (Kangroosa)who passed first hand information to the Army about the incident and Mr Babar Hussain of Markut village who displayed perfect example of honesty when he found the lost sum of Rs 1,87,000 and returned it to the deceased family.
Cdr Sector exhorted the villagers to continue the work being done by them to restore normalcy in the area.
Locals applaud the role of Rafiabad Battalion and said that they are always on the forefront in helping common masses under any circumstances.
